PGS 2003 Make-Up Information

Thanks for your continuing interest in maintaining your certified status as a Kolbe consultant. We are providing you a carefully prepared review of Kolbe learning presented at the annual Professional Growth Seminar. While you may find some of the exercises presented below to be challenging, they represent material that has been covered in previous training. Solutions can be found in available Kolbe resources online or in print as well as drawing on your previous experience. You may either email, fax or mail your answers to us attention: Sandie Deems.

A common quandary of all Kolbe consultants is the question of what to do for a business unit or company after an initial Kolbe TeamSuccess(R) seminar is delivered. You'll find in this document a step-by-step plan for implementing Kolbe into the workplace. Some of the material is brand new and other pieces are put into the context of an overall program as opposed to a one shot solution. We feel this is a valuable new tool for you. If you lost all your previous training materials, this one document would make you whole. Contained in one place is the entire range of Kolbe services which each consultant would require to deliver conative solutions. You need to start by studying this document as the case study which follows will require you to draw on material found here.

Download Dev Team Case Study*
filename: DEVTeamCaseStudy.pdf
filesize: 240KB
This case is taken from the archives of Kolbe Corp and contains all of the elements necessary to validate your knowledge of Kolbe TeamTactix(R). A setup sheet on page one will present the scenario and ask you for the action items you would take to put this team back on the road to good health. For those who protest that their business is really one-on-one coaching versus team dynamics and therefore this exercise is not relevant, we would remind you that the day your client draws into discussion spouse, children or secretary, a team has been created and the principles of this case study will have relevance.

Download Statistical Analysis Questions*
filename: StatisticalAnalysisQuestions.pdf
filesize: 16.6KB
Many of the questions we field at Kolbe Corp pertain to the validity and reliability of the Kolbe system. How was it developed? How are results proven to be accurate? In other words, has Kolbe done its homework and does the index really measure what it purports to? These are questions you should have the answers to and this exercise is designed to direct you to the proper source for finding them. When this exercise is over you will be well equipped to deal with your clients' questions and be able to direct them to the source as well.

Download Interpretations Unplugged*
filename: InterpretationsUnplugged.pdf
filesize: 175KB
The basic tool in the Kolbe consultant's bag remains the in-depth interpretation of the results of a Kolbe index. Experience usually hones this skill to some degree of acuity. The materials presented here are offered by Senior Master Consultants, Amy Bruske and Sandra Deems who share not only their experience but also their expertise with you. For the experienced consultant, you will appreciate the review as a way of looking at some basic material in a new light. After reviewing this information, answer one question: What is the difference between "Transition" and "Contradiction?"

Download Team Inertia*
filename: TeamInertia.pdf
filesize: 170KB
This module was presented at PGS as "What To Do When Your Hands Are Tied." It's an approach for coaching a leader whose team is suffering severe inertia when it's not feasible to change the personnel. What short term expedients will ease the logjam and some of the resultant pain? Review the material and then take the slide for inertia in initiating Follow Thru of 56% with prevention at 17% and just flip flop the numbers. If inertia of 56% were found in the prevention zone and people could not be added to or removed from the team, what solutions would you offer the team leader to deal with it?
